Why suede and not plastic

Suede grips. A glossy case slides off a car seat, a console and a desk; a suede one does not. It also breathes, which is why an Alcantara watch band is more comfortable in summer than silicone, and it stays quiet against a steering wheel where a metal bracelet taps.

Looking after it

Brush across the nap with a soft dry brush; a barely damp microfiber cloth lifts anything the brush leaves. Avoid silicone cleaners and leather conditioner - neither is meant for suede and both flatten the nap. Full detail is in our guide to cleaning Alcantara.

The pieces listed as Alcantara are cut from genuine Alcantara. Anything listed as suede-look microfiber is named that way on purpose.
Does the MagSafe magnet still work through the suede?
Yes. The magnet array is full strength, so chargers and card holders snap on as normal.
