Gifts for Tesla Owners: 13 Ideas They'll Actually Use (2026)
13 gift ideas for Tesla owners, built around the phone that unlocks the car and the key card they keep as a backup, with a note on what to check before you buy each one.

In this guide
Gifts for Tesla owners come with a twist: many of them barely touch a key. They walk up with the phone in a pocket, the car unlocks itself, and the key card sits forgotten in a wallet until the day the phone battery dies.
The best Tesla gifts follow the phone and the backup key. The 13 below run from small gifts to bigger upgrades, four of them things we don't make, and each says what to check first.
Quick picks
- Best overall: Alcantara iPhone case
- For a Model 3 or Model Y: Alcantara key card cover
- For a Tesla key fob: Alcantara key fob cover
- Small gift: Alcantara AirTag cover
- Not sure what fits: Gift card
Check their key without asking
The model tells you most of it. A Model 3 or Model Y comes with flat key cards, and the car-shaped fob is an optional extra. Our Tesla key card vs key fob guide explains the difference.
Older Model S and Model X cars came with a car-shaped fob. Newer ones come with two key cards and may not have a fob at all, so look for one before you buy a fob cover.
If you find a fob, photograph both sides and compare its shape with the fitment photo on the product page or our fitment guide, or pass it to us and we'll check the fit. Exchanges for a wrong key type are free.
| They drive | They unlock it with | Start with |
|---|---|---|
| Model 3 or Model Y | The phone, with a key card as backup | iPhone case (5) and key card cover (7) |
| Model 3 or Model Y with the optional fob | The phone or the fob | Key fob cover (2) |
| Model S or Model X | The car-shaped fob if it has one; newer cars use the phone and key cards | Key fob cover (2) if you have seen a fob, otherwise iPhone case (5) |
| You can't tell | Unknown | AirTag cover (1) or gift card (13) |
Small Tesla gifts and stocking fillers
Best small gift
1. Alcantara AirTag cover
Nobody looks for the Tesla key card until the phone battery dies, which is a bad moment to find it gone. Clip an AirTag in this cover to the card sleeve (item 7) or the fob, and the backup key shows up in Find My.
The suede keeps it quiet on a crowded ring without muting the speaker or the tracking.
Good to know: the cover comes empty, and an AirTag needs an iPhone to set up, so skip this for an Android household.
2. Tesla key fob cover in Alcantara
For any Tesla owner who carries the car-shaped fob: most older Model S and Model X cars, and Model 3 or Model Y owners who bought the optional fob. This cover, cut for the Tesla fob shape and hand-stitched in Alcantara, saves the fob's glossy plastic from pocket scratches.
Suede doesn't block the fob's signal, so it still locks, unlocks and opens the boot as before. Orange or Green stands out against a white cabin, Dark Grey or Light Grey stays low-key, and each comes with a metal or Alcantara keychain. Compare all our Tesla key covers side by side.
Good to know: the cover comes in key fob style A or B, and the outline of their fob decides it, not the model year. Check it against the product page's fitment photo, or photograph their fob and send it to us; a wrong style is exchanged free.
3. Sunglasses holder for the visor
The Model 3 and Model Y cabins are famously bare, with no dedicated place for sunglasses, so they roll around the console or land on the phone charging pad. This Alcantara holder clips to the sun visor and keeps them on suede, where a hand already reaches.
Good to know: it takes most frames, big aviators and wraparound sports glasses included. Dark Grey suits a black interior and Light Grey a white one; Red, Orange and Green are the louder choices.
4. Alcantara AirPods case
A Supercharger stop is a natural moment for a podcast or a phone call while the battery fills. Between stops the AirPods ride in the console or a cupholder, where a hard plastic case slides and scratches. Alcantara grips instead, and the included carabiner hooks it to a bag on the walk back from the charger.
Good to know: sizes cover the 3rd and 4th/5th generation AirPods plus the AirPods Pro and Pro (2nd generation), and with the AirPods connected, their iPhone's Bluetooth menu names the model. There's no size for AirPods Pro (3rd generation), so for those, pick the gift card.
The sweet spot: gifts for Tesla owners who use the phone as a key
Best overall
5. Alcantara iPhone case
The phone unlocks the car over Bluetooth as they walk up, so in a Tesla the phone case is the key cover.
Alcantara grips, so the phone doesn't slide across a seat or the console when the car pulls away hard. MagSafe still reads through the suede for chargers and wallets, and a raised lip lifts the screen and camera clear of the surface when it lies face down.
It shares the fob cover's four colors: Green, Orange, Light Grey and Dark Grey.
Good to know: versions exist for the iPhone Ultra, 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max, the iPhone Air (listed as 17 Air), 17, 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, and every 14, 15 and 16 model except the 16e. Settings, General, About shows the exact model, and for an Android phone the key card cover (item 7) is safer.
6. MagSafe cardholder
The neatest home for the backup card is the back of the phone. This Alcantara MagSafe wallet takes two or three cards, so the Tesla card rides with a bank card or two, and the bottom card pushes out through a slot when the door pillar needs it.
Good to know: the wallet comes in Dark Grey only. Take it off before the phone goes on the car's wireless charging pad, because Tesla's manual warns that the pad can damage NFC cards, and the key card is one.
7. Tesla key card cover for Model 3 and Model Y
The other way to keep the backup safe is on the key ring. The Tesla key card is thin, slippery and looks like a bank card, so it slides out of coat pockets and vanishes into wallets.
This sleeve wraps it in Alcantara, so it grips the pocket and is easy to spot, and adds a keyring point the bare card can't take without risking the antenna inside.
Suede doesn't block NFC, so the card still reads at the door pillar and on the center console. It comes in Black, Red, Orange, Green and Light Grey.
Good to know: this sleeve is for the flat card that comes with a Model 3 or Model Y. If their wallet or glovebox holds a small car-shaped fob instead, you want item 2, and we'll trade the sleeve for it at no charge if you guess wrong.
8. Alcantara Apple Watch band
Tesla's official Apple Watch app can turn the watch into a key, so they can lock and unlock without reaching for the phone. Tesla's support page lists a recent Tesla app, recent vehicle software and watchOS 11 or later as requirements.
Once the watch opens the car, the strap gets as much use as a key ring. Alcantara breathes on a long drive where silicone turns sweaty, stays quiet against the wheel, and clicks into the standard Apple lugs without an adapter.
Good to know: 42, 44, 45, 46 and Ultra 49mm cases take the larger band, 38, 40, 41 and 42mm the smaller. Apple has used 42mm for a big older case and a small newer one, so check which watch they wear.
Bigger upgrades for their Tesla and the garage
Both come from Tesla, not from us, and both need the owner involved.
9. Tesla all-weather floor liners
Floor liners are the practical upgrade a wet winter makes obvious. Tesla's own shop sells all-weather interior liners cut for the Model 3 and Model Y, plus liners for the frunk and the rear well.
The catch is fitment: liners are listed by model and production year. In the US, a Tesla Gift Card lets them pick the right set, and Tesla says it also works for Supercharging, software upgrades and service payments.
Good to know: Tesla's listing says the gift card is sold only on the US Tesla Shop and is final sale. Elsewhere, check the Tesla Shop for your country and note their car's model and year (a 2020-2024 Model Y takes a different set from a 2025 one).
10. A Wall Connector for home charging
A household decision more than a surprise. If they still charge from a regular socket, Tesla's Wall Connector is the wall-mounted home charger made for the job, and they'll notice it every night.
Good to know: Tesla's support pages point to a Tesla Certified Installer and price installation separately from the unit, so check the official Tesla site for your country and get a quote first.
Experiences and things we don't make
11. Supporter membership of an owners club
Tesla has an official owners club program, with clubs run by owners rather than by Tesla. Tesla Owners UK is the official UK club, and the US has regional clubs.
Membership means meetups, drives and events with people as keen on the car as they are.
Good to know: basic membership of Tesla Owners UK is free, so the gift is the paid annual Supporter tier, which adds member discounts and event perks. Membership is for owners, so give a card and sign up together on the club's website.
12. A tire inflator and repair kit
A puncture is the one problem the app can't fix. A compact cordless inflator from a tool brand can be bought anywhere, tops up pressures in the driveway and fits in the frunk. Tesla also sells its own Air Compressor + Tire Repair Kit 3.0 with sealant for small tread holes.
Good to know: Tesla's owner's manual calls its kit a temporary repair only, and says to call Roadside Assistance for holes larger than 6 mm, sidewall damage or a tire off the rim. Their car may already carry a kit, so check the frunk or rear storage well first.

13. JONPARTS gift card
If you can't tell a card from a fob and don't know which iPhone they carry, hand the choice over. The gift card is a code sent by email that you can forward, and it works on a card sleeve, a fob cover or a phone case.
Good to know: the balance can be spread over more than one order, so it can cover a key card sleeve now and a phone case later.

Common questions
Do Model 3 and Model Y come with a key fob?
Not as standard: Tesla supplies key cards and offers the fob as an optional accessory. Older Model S and Model X cars came with the car-shaped fob, but Tesla's current manuals say a new Model S or Model X comes with two key cards and may not include a fob.
What do you buy a Tesla owner who has everything?
Something for the phone or the backup key, the two things they handle every day. An Alcantara iPhone case or a Tesla key card sleeve gets daily use and is rarely something owners buy themselves. For the car itself, a Tesla Gift Card (US only) lets them choose from the official shop.
Is there a Tesla Model Y key case?
Yes. Like the Model 3, the Model Y comes with flat key cards, and our Alcantara key card cover is a sleeve for that card with a keyring point. If they bought the optional fob, the Tesla key fob cover is the one, in style A or B as the fitment photo shows.
Which Tesla key fob cover fits a Model S or Model X?
Our Tesla Alcantara key fob cover comes in style A and style B, and the fob's outline decides which, not the model year. The Model S and Model X fobs are different shapes, so don't assume one style covers both. Lay their fob next to the fitment photo on the product page, or send us a picture and we'll tell you A or B.
Does a cover stop a Tesla key card or fob working?
No. Suede is non-conductive, so the fob still unlocks the car and the key card still reads when held flat against the reader. Metal cases and RFID-blocking wallets are what to avoid, for reasons our key fob cover signal guide sets out.
What if I order the wrong Tesla key cover?
If a card sleeve arrives for someone who carries the fob, or the reverse, we exchange it for the right cover free. Returns stay open for 30 days on any order, and worldwide shipping is free, including duties and VAT.
